NEW BREW ALERT: NORTH OF 41°

Hop City in partnership with Recipe Unlimited takes inspiration from Canada’s past for newest brew: NORTH OF 41°
The beer, brewed in partnership with Recipe Unlimited, is named in honour of Canada’s southernmost point, former home to a prohibition empire
April 16, 2021, [Brampton, ON] – The Hop City Brewing Company shares the story of one of its newest packaged brews today – a blonde ale steeped in Canadian history. North of 41°, which is now available at participating LCBO, The Beer Store, golf courses and Recipe Unlimited banner locations across Ontario, was originally brewed in collaboration with Canadian restaurant company Recipe Unlimited and was inspired by the story of the most southern point in Canada – at 41 degrees latitude. On that point sits Middle Island, which was home to an underground rum hub during the prohibition.
“It’s a sessionable beer with an incredible story,” said John Gagliardi, Brewmaster, Hop City Brewing Co. “Our goal is to brew hyper-local craft beer that has character and inspires curiosity amongst Canadian craft beer fans – and we feel that North 41° has done just that.”
Middle Island, which officially became part of Canada in 1999, sits in Point Pelee National Park in southern Ontario. In addition to serving as a compass for all Canadians – after all, no matter where you are in the country, you’re North of 41° – the beer is intended to inspire a spirit of exploration and discovery in every beer drinker.
To that end, Canadians can immerse themselves in the rich history and beautiful views of the island by grabbing a beer and taking a (virtual) trip – using augmented reality accessed by a QR code on the can. Those who embark on the adventure will be treated to 360° views and can even snap and share a photo of themselves on the island, pint in hand.
North of 41° is an easy-drinking blonde ale – layered with complex hoppy aromas and flavours ranging from tropical fruit to stone fruit and citrus. Every sip leaves you with a lasting impression of delicious hoppy flavours without the lingering bitterness. At 16 IBU and 4.4% ABV, North of 41° is precisely balanced, refreshing and leaves you wanting more.
The beer was brewed by Hop City in partnership with Recipe Unlimited, and it will be the signature craft beer at all of their banners, including Montana’s, Kelsey’s, Landing Group, East Side Mario’s, State & Main, Milestones and Pickle Barrel restaurants.
